NFL Week 7 Preview

Bradley Stewart, Sports Writer

The Week 6 of the NFL season offered plenty of surprises.  The previously winless New York Giants upset the Broncos on the road to notch their first win of the year.  Pittsburgh knocked off the only undefeated remaining in football, the Kansas City Chiefs, by a score of 19-13.  There are only two winless teams left: the Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers.  Here is your Week 7 NFL preview:

Bradley Stewart’s Prediction Record: 36-26

New Orleans 26 at Green Bay 21

Last week the Packers suffered their worst injury of the year, with Aaron Rodgers broken collarbone.  Green Bay never rebounded and fell to the Vikings by 13.  New Orleans, on the other hand, completely demolished the Lions, putting 52 on the board.  Without Rodgers, it will be hard for the Packers’ offense to put up a lot of points and they will definitely need to do so against the Saints.  New Orleans, now Adrian Peterson-less offense, is potent and, as evident from last week, can score points in a flurry.  Green Bay will need to rely on its defense, but they’ve been a defensive liability, allowing 20 or more points in four of their six games.

NY Jets 17 at Miami 16

The Jets and Dolphins are off to good starts in their 2017 campaign, both at least .500 or better.  New York has won three of their past four games, while Miami enters Week 7 on a two game win streak.  The Jets have won games this year with their defense. In their impressive four game stretch, the Jets have not allowed more than 24 points. The Dolphins have also won with their defense, not giving up more than 20 points the entire season.  This game is essentially a toss-up, but I give the nod to the Jets, due to their slightly more consistent quarterback play.

Atlanta 17 at New England 30

In the most intriguing matchup of the week, New England faces off against the Falcons in a Super Bowl rematch.  The past two weeks, Atlanta has struggled on offense, scoring 17 points in both games.  Minus their first four games, New England has played stellar defense.  If Atlanta continues their struggles on offense, it will be tough for them to win.  Tom Brady did not play at 100% last week, but should be closer to full this week.  With the Patriots top-notch offense, New England should cruise to a victory.
