Disney’s live action/CGI remake of The Lion King is set to come out in July 19, 2019 and the trailer, which was released just a few days ago, has become Disney’s most-viewed trailer debut ever, with 224.6 million global views online in just 24 hours.

After the success of their remakes Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book, Disney announced in 2016 that a new and slightly different live action version of The Lion King was in the works. The remake will use photorealistic animation, which is the same type of animation used in The Jungle Book. The cast consists of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala. Other actors such as John Oliver, Seth Rogen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor will also be in the movie. James Earl Jones will be the only returning cast member, voicing Mufasa of course. Any other voice and the part just wouldn’t be the same. The remake will also feature songs from the original movie, ‘Circle of Life’, ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’, and ‘Hakuna Matata’, and ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight.’ It is also rumored that Elton John, who sang songs on the original Lion King soundtrack, and Beyonce will also be singing a new ends credit song.

The movie’s release date in the US and the UK is set for July 19, 2019, marking the 25th anniversary of the original film’s release and with looking at the trailer’s popularity, the highly anticipated movie is sure to be a big hit next year.
