Last week marked the beginning of Spring sports season, as all teams began tryouts and are beginning to finalize their roster. Winter sports have now either completed their seasons or are competing in the postseason. Let us recap how all of our teams performed.

Men’s Basketball: The team played Cary two times over the span of the long weekend. Green Hope topped the Imps on Senior Night due to a buzzer beater by PJ Fenton. This made the final score 61-59. The Falcons then traveled across town to Cary High to take on the Imps in the first round of the Tri-6 Playoffs. Green Hope was led again by PJ Fenton, with 20 points, and the team won with a score 55-46. The team takes on Athens Drive tomorrow at Panther Creek at 3:30 in the second round of the tournament.

Women’s Basketball: Green Hope took on the Tri-6 leading Imps of Cary last Friday and fell by a score of 76-63. Then last night (2/18), Green Hope took on rival Panther Creek at home in the first round of the Tri-6 tournament and defeated the Catamounts by a score of 53-43. Senior Nia Washington also scored her 2000th career point in the game. The Lady Falcons travel to Panther Creek tomorrow to take on Jordan at 6:30 in the second round.

Wrestling: Green Hope sent three individuals to compete in the NCHSAA Wrestling State Championships that took place in the Greensboro Coliseum last weekend. Cole Furrie, Ian Viana, and Jacob Benavente all went to the event. All of these individuals closed out a great season and some of them ended their solid careers.
