On Saturday, April 6th, Green Hope hosted the annual Super Saturday event against Panther Creek. This is a day full of competition between the Catamounts and Falcons in the majority of Spring sports. Year after year, this big day usually decides the Fight for 55 yearly results as 5 points are on the line for grabs. Let us recap how our teams performed, all in big rivalry matches.

Baseball: The team was hoping to bounce back from a loss to Panther Creek earlier in the year and they did just that. A slow start led to a 1-3 deficit that eventually led to a huge Falcon comeback win. The team took the lead in the 5th inning and never looked back. Kohl Abrams was able to secure the win with great pitching on the mound. The Falcons travel to Riverside tomorrow.

Women’s Soccer: In their first game against the Catamounts, the Lady Falcons were able to lock down Panther Creek. The scoring opened up with a long-range shot from Megan Gregg. Green Hope didn’t allow Panther Creek any chances on offense and the back line was able to get the shutout. Katie Brundage was able to score the second and final goal, leading to a 2-0 win. Their next game is Wednesday at Cary.

Men’s Lacrosse: Green Hope Men’s Lacrosse faced off against Panther Creek for the second time this season. The game was close through the first three quarters, until Panther Creek went on a huge 8-2 run to win the game. The final score was 10-6. The Falcons travel to Jordan for their next game on Tuesday.

Women’s Lacrosse: This was the first varsity competition of Super Saturday. The team played a tough Catamount squad, and put it all on the field. The final score was 6-9, with Panther Creek claiming the Fight for 55 point. Senior Meghan O’Mara had a huge game on offense. The team plays their next game at home versus Jordan on Tuesday.

Softball: The softball team had their second game against their rival Catamounts on Saturday. Panther Creek was able to have strong play on both sides of the ball, not allowing Green Hope to have any chances. The final score was 0-11 for Panther Creek.

After Super Saturday, Green Hope claimed 2 points for the Fight for 55. The Falcons only need half of a point to secure the win for the year. The current score is 17-12, with many games left to play.
