It is officially that time of the year for seniors.  It is time to figure out where you are going to school and more importantly figuring out who you want to live with for the next year of your life.  It is the worst and most uncomfortable form of online dating. You see someone on Facebook, try and see who they are through a formulated post and six pictures, message them on Instagram (because no one born after the year 1999 knows how to use Facebook anymore), try and get to know them through a few messages, and hope that they like you enough to want to live with you.  This process continues through weeks of awkward “getting to know you” conversations until you find the person you feel like you could live with.

This process causes a lot of stress for many students and sometimes feels even more overwhelming than the actual college application process.  The idea of moving away from home and in with someone who you only have a relationship with over the phone seems like going too far too fast. This is even more stressful when you haven’t decided where you are going to school. Students do not have to decide where they are going to school until May 1st.  That means that kids still need to find roommates as the middle of May. The longer and longer kids have to go until they find a roommate the more and more stress they are put under to try and find the right person.

Seniors so be sure to take a deep breath.  You will find a roommate and if you feel as though you are not clicking with anyone, going random is always an option.  Everything will end up okay, and if it isn’t the best situation you will have funny stories to tell for a lifetime about your crazy freshman roommate.  Good luck!
