High school– an odd time full of electives, meeting new people, social cliques, and football games. Everyone has to go through it. But luckily, our generation has a plethora of high school movies at our disposal to help us to get through. These films will get you through exam week, midterms, breakups, and a failed test. So enjoy a definitive list of the best high school movies in order from best to worse, or at least 15 of them.

  1. Sixteen Candles: I mean, do I really have to explain this one?
  2. The Breakfast Club: That ending monologue? To die for.
  3. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: If this movie didn’t want to make you skip class and go race around Raleigh, I don’t know what will.
  4. Risky Business: Just take those old records off the shelf. Also responsible for the easiest Halloween costume of all time.
  5. Dead Poet’s Society: Rest in Peace, Robin Williams.
  6. Mean Girls: How can you not like this film?
  7. 17 Again: Zac Efron? Yes please.
  8. Grease: What a classic sing-a-long, huh?
  9. Easy A: Emma Stone taking on a school scandal proves for some good entertainment.
  10. Friday Night Lights: For all the student athletes out there.
  11. Juno: A teen pregnancy is obviously not a laughing matter, but the high school happenings of small town teens make this film a solid comedy.
  12. Hairspray: Old or new, this vintage bop is always a good choice.
  13. 21 Jump Street: The Channing Tatum version. Obvs.
  14. Fast Times At Ridgemont High: Perhaps the most relatable high school movies of all time.
  15. Clueless: As if!
