Anna Rico Commits to Loyola University Maryland!

Anna Rico, the star senior tennis player, recently announced her commitment to Loyola University Maryland to play Division 1 tennis. Anna played varsity tennis all four years. She helped the Falcons win 3 State Championships! I sat down with her to talk about her recruiting process and her future!

What made you pick Loyola Maryland?

“It has a good balance of school and tennis and I really liked all the girls on the team.”

What are your goals at Loyola?

“My goals are to help the tennis team get to the top of their conference, get a good education, and continue to enjoy the sport that I love.”

Can you share some details about the recruitment process?

“The recruitment process was long and stressful. I visited 5 different schools in a total of 6 months. I like different aspects of every school, but I felt most at home a Loyola.”

What do you want to study?

“I plan to study biology on the premed track.”

What’s been the hardest thing you’ve had to deal with in your career?

“The hardest thing in my career was bouncing back after losing tough matches.”

What was the most memorable moment in your high school career?

“The most memorable moment in my high school career was winning the individual doubles state championship my junior year with Sophia Gray. We worked hard for that achievement and were the first individual tennis state champs in school history.”

What other schools were you considering?

“Other schools I was considering were Davidson, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh.”
