She is looking for a deep playoff run and another state title this year. Known for her prowess both on and off the court, Katie will certainly go far at VT. She has had a glittering career here at Green Hope, and all of us are excited to see her continue in college.

How was the recruitment process?

“I think that one’s stress level regarding the recruitment process originates mostly from their attitude towards it. I’m the type of person that believes that whatever is meant to be will be, so I wasn’t too stressed out about it until the very end when I had to actually make my final decision. One of the hardest parts was having to turn down coaches that I really liked, knowing that another school was a better fit for what I was looking for.”

What made you choose Virginia Tech?

“I chose VT because it feels like home to me. Throughout the recruiting process, I slowly realized how special the town and its people were and how I felt like my family and I belonged there. Also, it has always been my dream to play tennis in the ACC.”

What do you intend to major in?

“I intend to major in kinesiology and exercise science. “
