Brooks Almond on His Commitment to York College of Pennsylvania!

Brooks Almond, a current senior at Green Hope announced his verbal commitment to the York College of Pennsylvania on September 21st of this year where he will play for their Lacrosse team. This trooper has high goals for the future as he plans to win at least one national championship during his time, while also focusing on his studies as he hopes to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. This is an amazing achievement and we wish him the best as he joins the Spartan Family!

How long have you been playing Lacrosse and is there anything that really solidified your interest in that sport?

“I have played Lacrosse for about 11 years now and have always played Midfielder. I really like the flow of lacrosse over other sports, it is honestly a combination of many. I also like that everyone’s playstyle is unique.”

Do you play Lacrosse outside of school as well?

“I have played club for a team called Bucktown based in Raleigh for years now and Team 300 based in Maryland for the past few seasons.”

What would you say your coach/teammates would describe you as?

“I would say they would describe me as a very vocal person on and off the field, and I like to help my teammates to their full potential.”

Is there anyone that inspires you or any mottos you try to live by?

“I look up to Kevin Kisner, a professional golfer and one of my favorite quotes I follow is, “If you ain’t first you’re last” -Ricky Bobby.”

What will you miss most about playing for Green Hope/Club?

“I will definitely miss the team meals at our teammate’s houses for GH. One of my favorite moments with them was definitely winning conference in 2018 for GH, which was the first time in men’s lax history!

“For Club, I’m going to miss messing around in the hotels during our travel tournaments.”

What was your recruitment process like?

“My recruiting process took about a year to limit down to a few schools. I had a phone call with about 7 schools before cutting down my options to 4. I knew York was top 2 on my list after my visit. I was fully looking at 3 other schools before choosing York. My Coach had watched me play earlier in the summer and had seen all of my films. I don’t need to sign for York, D3 doesn’t offer NLIs so when you are committed you usually are 100% done.”

Lastly, WHY York?

“I chose York because of the overall atmosphere, their competition level, and the academics fit perfectly for me.”

Congratulations to Brooks and thank you for taking the time to talk to us! You can congratulate him via Instagram @brooksalmond. We hope you enjoy your senior year and go off to do great things on your next journey at York!
