On Earth Day, it’s especially important to embrace our environment and continue to advocate for issues that threaten it. But, to really protect our mother earth, lifestyles changes in not only how long you shower, or what car you drive are crucial to give future generations the green light (quite literally). Below are steps to becoming a more eco-friendly consumer not just today, but every day with these products.

Pretty much everyone owns a toothbrush, but if everyone brushes with bamboo, we’d be brushing with bristles that use 0% fossil fuel and 0% petroleum and producing 30% more oxygen into our atmosphere as well as consuming CO2 more than any other plant. Support not only local businesses, farms, and the environment, but also support your body and health by eating food according to the season. When eating something in-season, antioxidants are at a higher level because of greater sun exposure. In-season eating allows for less food-mileage, or the environmental strain needed to transport/move a product to somewhere. Plus, seasonal fruits and vegetables are less likely to be genetically modified as they’re freshest right after harvest. Finally, flavor is at an all time high when eating during the correct season. April, in North Carolina, means strawberries, nettles, pea greens, and garlic scapes are in season on top of year-round items like beets, onions, sweet potatoes, carrots, sage, etcetera.
