Behind the Scenes of The Diary of Anne Frank

Erin Kremer, Staff Writer

For the first rehearsal of The Diary of Anne Frank, the energy of the students in trailer 3 was palpable. Their excitement and anticipation was infectious. When asked what he was looking forward to most in the show, Matt Baylis, cast as Mr. Van Daan, responded with “The cast chemistry, and getting close to everyone.”The Diary of Anne Frank is a small cast of 12 people.

The auditions started on Tuesday, September 6th with almost 60 aspiring actors vying for the few roles available. That same night, a small list of callbacks was sent out for another day of physically and emotionally exhausting auditions.

After this, it took two more days to finalize the cast. Chris Inman, fulfilling the role of Peter, said of being cast, “I was pretty shocked, but I was trying to stay professional and humble.”

Similarly, Adrian Lopez, cast as Mr. Russell, said, “I am so excited to be a part of a play of this caliber.” It was clear that all of the actors/actresses were super-excited to be part of the show.
